About us

Evidence first. Hype last.

SupplementDecider is an independent health-and-nutrition education site for adults over 50 and the families who help them make decisions. We do not sell supplements, and we accept no payment for evidence ratings. We read the human research, describe what it actually supports, and say plainly where the marketing has run ahead of the science.

Why this site exists

The supplement aisle is designed to make every product look equally credible. Bottles carry confident claims, five-star reviews and words like “clinically studied” that mean far less than they appear to. Meanwhile, the questions that matter most after 50 — does this interact with my medication, is the amount anywhere near what was studied, is there any human evidence at all — are the hardest to answer from the label.

We exist to answer those questions in ordinary language, at a reading pace that respects the reader, without exaggeration in either direction. Some supplements are genuinely worth taking. Most are not. Almost none of them do what the front of the bottle implies.

What makes our reviews different

  • Every review carries an evidence verdict — Strong, Promising, Mixed, Weak or Not Recommended — applied to specific outcomes rather than to the product as a whole.
  • Every product assessment uses the five-part Decider Score: Evidence, Formulation, Testing & Transparency, Safety and Practical Value.
  • Every article states who may benefit, who should be cautious, the amounts actually studied, and the interactions worth raising with a pharmacist.
  • Every page carries a last-reviewed date, so you know how current it is.
  • We publish no prices, no checkout links and no shopping buttons. This is an education site, not a store.

Who we write for

Our primary reader is over 50, often managing one or more prescriptions, and looking for a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. That shapes everything: we prioritise research conducted in older adults, we lead with interactions and kidney and liver cautions rather than burying them, and we set type large enough to read comfortably.

What we refuse to do

  • We do not invent citations, certifications, laboratory results or brand facts. Unverified references appear as clearly labelled placeholders until an editor checks them.
  • We do not run our own laboratory testing, and we never imply that we do.
  • We do not sell supplements and we do not accept payment for evidence ratings, scores, rankings or verdicts.
  • We do not use anti-medicine or conspiratorial framing. Supplements are judged against real clinical alternatives.
  • We do not give medical advice, and we say so on every review.
